How can we help?
What is the best overall trainer for a realistic Zwift experience?
If you want the gold standard, go for a direct-drive trainer like the Wahoo KICKR or Tacx Neo 2T. These replace your back wheel, which eliminates tire slip and gives you the most realistic 'road feel' when the gradients change in the game.

Can I beat a man with a higher FTP on a climb?
You absolutely can if your power-to-weight ratio is better. If you produce 180W at 55kg (3.2 W/kg), you will fly past a 90kg man producing 250W (2.7 W/kg) the moment the road points upward.

Does my menstrual cycle actually affect my FTP test results?
It definitely can, as hormonal shifts can make your perceived exertion feel much higher during certain weeks. If you're feeling sluggish, don't sweat a 5-10% drop in your numbers; just aim to test again when you're feeling more like yourself.

Should I adjust my training zones differently than a man would?
The percentages for your zones stay the same, but you might find you can hold your 'Threshold' power slightly longer than men can. If a workout feels a bit too easy, try extending your interval time by two minutes rather than just cranking up the intensity.

Is a 200W FTP considered 'good' for a female cyclist?
Hitting 200W is a massive milestone that puts you ahead of most casual riders. If you weigh 65kg, that gives you a power-to-weight ratio of about 3.0 W/kg, which is exactly where you'll start feeling like a powerhouse on your local group rides.

Why is my raw FTP usually lower than my male riding partners?
It mostly comes down to biology, as men generally have larger hearts and more muscle mass to move oxygen. Instead of worrying about total watts, focus on your watts-per-kilogram (W/kg), which is the real equalizer when you start heading uphill.

Is it better to do short, intense intervals or long, slow rides for weight loss?
A mix of both is your best strategy because intervals burn a lot of calories in a short time, while long rides build your engine's ability to burn fat. Try doing two 60-minute interval sessions during the week and one longer, easy-paced ride on the weekend where you can still hold a conversation.

Can I build custom workouts?
Yes. Use the Workout Creator tool. You can build block-based intervals based on %FTP. Be warned: creating complex, impossible workouts is a common amateur mistake. Simple intervals work best.
Where is the social feed/community?
There isn’t one. Comparison is the thief of joy and the enemy of progress. You are training against your own physiology, not against a stranger on the internet. If you want social validation, upload to Instagram.
Why doesn’t my indoor ride match my Garmin file?
Recording on two devices simultaneously (e.g., FTPist Player and a Garmin Head Unit) often results in slight data variances due to packet loss or “smart recording” intervals. We prioritize the file recorded directly into FTPist. It is the raw source of truth.
